DR. JONATHAN FINLAY

Dr. Finlay is currently Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics and Radiation Oncology, the Ohio State University College of Medicine, and Principal Investigator, the NEXT/Head Start 4 Consortium, the Abigail Wexner Nationwide Children’s Hospital Research Institute, Columbus, Ohio, USA.
Dr. Finlay has published over 300 peer-reviewed original papers and review articles over the course of his 45 years career. He has delivered over 250 invited lectures globally, mainly on childhood, adolescent and young adult primary brain cancers and their management.
Amongst Dr.Finlay’s many honors and accolades, he received LifeTime Achievement Awards from the international Society of Neuro-oncology (SNO, 2019) and from the International Symposium of Pediatric Neuro-oncology (ISPNO, 2022).
Dr. Finlay’s current academic activities focus on conducting and developing clinical trials focused on improving survival and quality of life for (1) pre-school children with medulloblastoma and other CNS embryonal tumors, (2) young children with choroid plexus carcinoma harboring P53 mutations, both somatic and germline (the Li-Fraumeni cancer predisposition syndrome) and (3) children, adolescents and young adults with primary CNS germ cell tumors. Additionally, Dr. Finlay is involved in current efforts to initiate clinical trials for patients with resistant pediatric cancers utilizing augmented Natural Killer cell immunotherapy.
Meanwhile, Dr. Finlay has returned to his professional “roots” and works half-time as a solo general pediatrician in his home community in Central coastal California.
